Western Carolina Rescue Ministries Receives $25,000 Parsec Prize
Part of $200,000 commitment from Parsec Financial

Asheville, N.C. – Parsec Financial, a fee-only wealth management firm, announced today the fourth recipient for the annual Parsec Prize. Western Carolina Rescue Ministries (WCRM) has been awarded a 2017 Parsec Prize of $25,000 that will support the completion of the new Women’s Recovery Program (Abba’s House) and Learning Lab.

Serving the community since 1981, WCRM exists to serve the homeless, poor and addicted populations of Western North Carolina. As both a community advocate and a faith-based organization, WCRM focuses on helping people in crisis, invest in their future and help them until they can move forward.

“On behalf of Western Carolina Rescue Ministries I would like to say thank you from the bottom of our heart for the generous gift that will greatly impact how we can serve our community,” says Alexa Kincaid, Director of Community Relations for Western Carolina Rescue Ministries. “The mission of Western Carolina Rescue Ministries has been embraced and fully funded by the community in which it serves for over 34 years. Once again we thank you and pray for God’s blessing in your life.”

WCRM recognizes that chronic homelessness does not discriminate, it occurs to women and children as well as men. Sadly there are not as many programs available for women. Through Abba’s House, WCRM works to provide a safe place for women and children to heal and recover. Abba’s house is designed to be a long-term, non-detox residential recovery program serving single women/emancipated teenage girls, who are pregnant or parenting their small children in Buncombe County.

In spite of Buncombe County’s growth as a tourism hotspot, our homeless population needs more help than ever. At Parsec Financial, our hearts go out to those individuals and the circumstances that brought them there,” says Ashley Gragtmans, CFP, Parsec Financial. “We are excited to play a small role in enabling the work that WCRM is doing to help the most vulnerable among us.”

This year, Parsec Financial will commit $200,000 to five organizations in the communities they serve. For more information on the Parsec Prize, you can visit www.parsecfinancial.com/parsec-prize.
