From Mountain Roots, Inc.:
4th Annual Bracken Mountain Races & Festival to be held Saturday September 2, 2017
Mountain Roots, Inc. is excited to announce the 4th annual Bracken Mountain Races & Festival on Saturday, September 2! Join the Mountain Roots crew in Brevard for a day of true mountain life, adventure and community. The day starts off with a 12K foot race at 8:30 a.m., when local adventurers will tackle the trails of Bracken Mountain—starting on west Main, running out Probart and up into the Bracken Preserve. The second race of the day is a 12K bike race at 11:30 a.m. for those that feel like “attackin’ Bracken” on their mountain bikes—same race course as the runners. Race registration still available. Visit http://www.mountainroots.org/bracken-races.html for registration, race, and festival information. West Main Street will be closed from England to Oaklawn (allowing traffic through the post office loop) from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. And a reminder to drivers that racers will be on Probart Street throughout the day September 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
This year’s Festival will be hosted in the Lumberyard by Squatch Bikes & Brews. Visit the race website for more information on the day’s events including food and live music.
Mountain Roots is excited to host this event to support their Day Camp, Outdoor Education, and other growing community programs in Transylvania County and western NC. Event sponsors include Land of Waterfalls, High Country Tree Service, Highline Ink, Squatch Bikes & Brews, Oskar Blues, DD Bulwinkles, REI, and Foot Rx.
