ArtSpace Charter School in Swannanoa holds its annual cabaret-style fundraiser on Thursday, March 19. The event, with sketch comedy troupe LYLAS and the band Hustle Soul, among others, takes place at Isis Restaurant & Music Hall.
Press release from ArtSpace Charter School:
ArtSpace Charter School’s annual fundraiser event, “ArtSpace Cabaret” will be coming held at the ISIS Restaurant and Music Hall in West Asheville on March 19, 2015. The annual “adults-only” will feature hors d’oeuvres and signature cocktails from ISIS, a raffle drawing, silent auction, music, comedy, and dancing. Tickets are $20 and doors open at 6:00 PM.
The line-up of talent includes a mix of local, regional and national entertainment acts. Local southern soul band “Hustle Soul” will open the evening followed by jazzy showgirl act “Les Filles Charme.” National Public Radio theme composer BJ Liederman will be appearing for a second consecutive year as will local all-female sketch comedy troupe LYLAS. More comedy will be provided by stand-up comedians Tom Scheve and Cary Goff and the evening’s entertainment will be rounded out with music from local roots reggae band Saylyn.
About the event, Enterprise & Development Manager Joshua Batenhorst said, “The ArtSpace Cabaret is our signature fundraising event. Every year we learn a little more about what works and what makes for a great evening. The folks at ISIS are great partners and, with our talent line-up, we’re expecting this to be the best year yet!” Silent auction items from local craftspeople and businesses are a popular attraction for attendees, and last year’s event raised over $20,000.
