Press release:
Are You Smarter Than An Elementary Student?
Local children’s nonprofit is recruiting for teams for annual trivia eventName the U.S. state that entered the Union on January 3rd, 1959? How many sides does a trapezoid have? Who was the first president to be impeached? If you can answer these questions, then you just might be smarter than an elementary student.
On Thursday, May 19, local nonprofit Children First/Communities In Schools will hold its 5th annual “Are You Smarter Than an Elementary Student?” fundraising event at the Millroom in downtown Asheville, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The event, sponsored by the Omni Grove Park Inn, pits teams of six people from local businesses, organizations and civic groups against each other for the chance to win an array of awards, ranging from passes to brunch at Omni Grove Park Inn to prize packages from local recreational facilities, area restaurants and more.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place finishers, based on who answers the most questions correctly. In addition, a silent auction featuring items from local businesses will be available for bidding at the event.
Registration fees are $300 for a team of six and includes a gift for each team member, food and a beverage. Teams can register by contacting Kaitlyn Breiten or Paulina Mendez at (828) 259-9717 or by email at KaitlynB@childrenfirstbc.org.
All proceeds go to benefiting Children First/Communities In Schools, which serves economically disadvantaged children and families through after school learning centers, student support specialists placed in high-need schools, a food pantry, emergency financial assistance, advocacy and parenting classes. More information on Children First/CIS can be found at www.childrenfirstcisbc.org/about/upcoming-events.
For more information about registering a team, attending the event and silent auction, or becoming a sponsor, contact Kaitlyn Breiten at KaitlynB@childrenfirstbc.org or 828-259-9717.
