Mountain Xpress and Sherwood’s Music are partnering to showcase local musicians through a series of stripped-down performances for the web. This week Steven Brett and Rebecca Finley-Smith of Camp David performed “Old Strings.”

Camp David is the moniker of Nottingham, England native Brett, so if you catch a Camp David performance you may be seeing Brett solo or with a full band. These full band performances have been a powerhouse of local musicians with alums from several Asheville bands, including The Hermit Kings, Doc Aquatic and Artimus Pyle Band. The current five-piece line up features Tony Black, Josh Gibbs and Zac Hayes as well as Finley-Smith, who also performs as solo electronic act E8 électronique.

The music of Camp David can be as varied as its line-up, falling somewhere on the spectrum between alternative folk and post-rock—which you can hear for yourself at campdavidmusic.bandcamp.com. You can learn more about the group, or just say hello, at facebook.com/campdavidasheville.

This video web series is produced by Mountain Xpress and Sherwood’s Music. Check back each week for a new video featuring Asheville and WNC musicians.
