Gala to kick off ‘Of Valley & Ridge’ art show, Oct. 26

An intriguing historic Tudor mansion decked out with art pieces inspired by the Blue Ridge Parkway, live jazz music, and delicious eats. Guests are invited to a spectacular kickoff gala for the benefit art show, Of Valley & Ridge: A Scenic Journey Through the Blue Ridge Parkway, at 5 p.m., Friday, October 26, at Zealandia in Asheville, N.C.

The evening is an exclusive preview of works painted in the outdoors along the scenic route by more than 20 fine artists of Western North Carolina. The festivities at the circa-1880s mansion atop Beaucatcher Mountain include hors d’oeuvres, drinks from New Belgium Brewing and Biltmore Wines, and jazz from the HotPoint Trio.

During the gala, guests will have the opportunity to purchase their favorite en plein air paintings and etchings. Participating artists include John Mac Kah, Julyan Davis, Deborah Squier, Bryan Koontz, Mark A. Henry, Jim and Michelle Ostlund, Joy Moser, Tony Corbitt, Jr., Tess Darling, Susan Kokora, Cecil Bothwell, Alisa Lumbreras, Paul Blankenship, Dotti Smith, Caleb Clark, Colleen Webster, Alison Web, Carol Parks, Christine Enochs, Mohamed Sabaawi, Andrew Mastriani, Peter Loewer, and Dana Irwin.

Proceeds from the gala and art sales will support the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation’s work to protect, preserve, and enhance the Blue Ridge Parkway. The event is hosted in partnership with The Saints of Paint, a group of artists committed to helping raise funds for nonprofits dedicated to preserving the environment, caring for animals, and working for positive social changes.

Tickets for the gala are $100. The art will remain on exhibit and available for purchase from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, October 27, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, October 28.
