Bob Moog Foundation and Prestige Subaru raffle to benefit Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool ends Monday, June 30

The Bob Moog Foundation and Prestige Subaru of Asheville celebrate their shared passion for encouraging the creative spirit in youth with a raffle to benefit the Foundation’s hallmark educational project, Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool. Monday June 30 is te last day to purchase a raffle ticket for a 2014 Subaru Outback station wagon or a 2014 Subaru BRZ Coupe (valued at $23,500 and $25,500 respectively).

Tickets are $50 and can be purchased through the Bob Moog Foundation’s online store.
Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool (DBSS) is a 10-week STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) curriculum developed by the Foundation to teach children the science of sound through the magic of music. DBSS currently serves over 1,000 second-grade students in 55 classrooms throughout Western North Carolina in Asheville City Schools, Buncombe County Schools, and Madison County Schools.

The Foundation aims to expand DBSS into additional counties in Western North Carolina and beyond in the coming year. Monies raised from the raffle will be used for that expansion.

Watch jazz great Herbie Hancock talk about the educational vision of Bob Moog and Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool, “Ensuring that the future will be left in the hands of young people who are constantly creating, constanty breaking barriers, constantly expanding themselves.”

Michelle Begnino, Assistant Curriculum Director for Madison County Schools, reflects on efficacy of DBSS in her district: “We are so pleased with the experience our children and teachers had working with Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool. Our children radiate when talking about the DBSS lessons. As we focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) throughout our district, this curriculum gives teachers the chance to implement lessons that have the rigor and the support to be successful! We have tremendously bright children in our system of high poverty, and DBSS gives our children wonderful, hands-on learning opportunities and a chance to shine.”

“We’re proud to be able to support the Bob Moog Foundation’s educational initiative, Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool,” added Prestige Subaru’s Tony Pelle. “Their efforts in encouraging technology and the arts have already made a tremendous difference in these students’ lives, and we’d love to see more children benefit from programs like these.”

Prestige Subaru has provided philanthropic funding throughout the region for many years, and has benefited organizations such as the Asheville Humane Society, the American Cancer Society, Veterans Helping Veterans, and many more.

Raffle ticket purchasers are encouraged to read the rules and regulations that govern the raffle.

The Bob Moog Foundation is an independent 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. It is not affiliated with Moog Music, Inc. Its support comes from donors and supporters like you.
