32nd Annual Mountain Glory Festival comes to Marion on October 10

The 32nd annual Mountain Glory Festival, celebrating small-town mountain living, arrives in Marion, North Carolina just in time for Autumn in the Blue Ridge. The event brings crafts, food and live music to Main Street on Thursday, Oct. 10 beginning at 9:30 a.m., according to a press release from the organizers.

This years craft selection features custom made jewelry, fabric and knitted bags, hats, scarves and yard art from over 140 artists, in addition to special exhibits on local and regional past times such as quilting, apple butter making and homemade ice cream.

Musical performances range from “bluegrass, new country, southern gospel and haunting melodies Native American music,” according to the press release. Performers for this year’s festival include Sorella Jack, Addies Chapel Choir and Greg Conley, among others.

Other activities during the festival include the popular “Kids Korner” on the Courthouse Lawn, where kids can participate in hands-on activities, gem mining and the “best-dressed pet show” contest.

Festivities will go on around downtown Marion from 9:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Admission is free for all to attend.

Celebrate Small-town Living in the Mountains

Saturday, October 10, the 32nd Annual Mountain Glory Festival in Marion NC will celebrate the arrival of autumn in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Visitors can enjoy of crafts, food and music on three blocks of Main Street. Shoppers looking for original handicrafts or homespun enjoyment will find plenty of choices among more than 140 artists, crafters and food booths and a wide variety of entertainment. The festival offers a wide array of arts and crafts. Featured this year is a great selection of custom made jewelry, fabric and knitted bags, hats, scarves and delightful yard art. Great shopping opportunities for Christmas!!! Traditional bluegrass, new country, southern gospel and haunting melodies Native American music, there is music for everyone.

Besides mainstays of music and craft, the festival offers glimpses into local and regional pastimes. The Mountain Glory Quilt Show will be open all of October. Watch apple butter being made and the hit-n-miss engine making ice cream.

One of the most popular areas at the festival each year is the Children’s Area in the Courthouse Lawn, that provides hands-on activities, gem mining, the best-dressed pet show and activities for kids.
